AMT Bank changed Lotus Notes for Microsoft Exchange

AMT Bank after long-term use refused the mail IBM Lotus Notes system for benefit of Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. The main problem of an old system in absence in the market of qualified personnel for its support and development: the risks of further operation of Lotus Notes connected with it in bank considered unacceptable.
The subsidiary bank of the largest Kazakhstan BTA bank,AMT Bank, completed implementation of a mail system based on Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. Thus, the bank refused the solution IBM Notes/Domino which it used on an extent of a row of years.
As the chief executive AMT of Bank Igor Koval explained TAdviser, before Lotus Notes was the corporate standard of banks of the BTA Group. After in March, 2010 the bank carried out rebranding and refused the old name (BTA Bank LLC), the management made the decision to refuse also old legacy IT systems, including mail.
However, according to the bank representative, the main reason for refusal of the product IBM Lotus Notes consisted first of all that in the market there is no qualified personnel on Lotus Notes and development of the solution came to a standstill. "Besides, perspectives of the system are rather foggy unlike Microsoft Exchange. From the point of view of users, the usability and integrability of Lotus Notes with the Windows operating system and a packet MS Office leaves much to be desired", - Igor Koval said.
The implementation project of Exchange Server 2010 and Outlook 2010 in AMT Bank took about a month. Exchange Server 2010 was unrolled on the same server hardware on which in bank the Lotus Notes system functioned earlier. In workplaces of users the Outlook 2010 and Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 applications were installed.
Top management of bank had an opportunity to browse mail and to respond to letters by means of pocket computers (PDA). Employees conduct discussions of office questions by e-mail and through Communicator which integrates possibilities of instant messaging and a voice communication. The IT service of Bank, in turn, got access to the remote Outlook Web App web interface thanks to what in bank the round-the-clock technical support of users was organized.
Bank representatives note that the new solution facilitated problems of planning of working time of employees of the bank and allowed to organize effectively business processes on work with documents. Having passed to Exchange Server 2010 and Outlook 2010, the bank simplified processes of electronic approval of documents, cut down maintenance expenses of the corresponding systems and refused "outdated approach to use of the electronic document management" put in a former system, said in the official statement of bank.
In total about 1 thousand users work at Microsoft Ecxhange now. The project budget in AMT Bank is not opened, noting only that the main article of the budget – the license, and implementation happened by own forces to involvement of technical advisers of Microsoft and partners of vendor. Respondents of TAdviser experts, proceeding from these data, estimated the project budget at 18-20 million rubles.
