According to David Mitchell Smith (David Mitchell Smith), the vice president for the researches Gartner, speaking about cloud services and SOA (service-oriyentirovnnoy to architecture), it is necessary to understand that the term "service" is used in different values here.
"Speaking about the service-oriented architecture, service is understood as the software, components and objects, however in cloud computing "service" is a ready used service", - Mr. Smith says.
"Some say that they "use SOA therefore they are ready to a cloud", however the difference between SOA and cloud services is huge. Using clouds, you pay for result, but not for technologies. In cloud computing the attention is concentrated on the relations between service provider and the client, but not the supplier of technologies and the client", - Mr. Smith explains.
According to him, Chief information officers should not think that SOA is equivalent to a cloud as between them there are huge distinctions. At the same time these concepts are connected among themselves.
On Gartner SOA and software summit in Sydney Mr. Smith said in the speech that the IT industry is very subject to a fashion.
"Cloud computing – the most rasprostrayenny term today, at the same time accurately not certain. For this reason there is a half of all existing problems. All say that they move towards cloud computing, but they not always know what they mean", - Mr. Smith told.
"What is cloud computing? It is style of calculations, but not technology or architecture which provides a possibility of use of IT as services by means of Internet technologies", - Mr. Smith says.
According to Mr. Smith, obachny calculations are to some extent based on trust to the supplier and if there is no trust to the supplier, you should not use cloud computing. SOA in this sense considerably differs from a cloud.
"Cloud computing and new realities of business should be focused more on value addition, but not on costs. The future of progammny providing is not guaranteed. The software did not die, but it is not incredibly healthy, as well as business models in a long-term persperktiva", - Mr. Smith summarized.
