Infor improved the mobile EAM solution

The Infor company issued the solution Infor EAM Advanced Mobile for portable pocket computers. The solution is intended for exit employees who in the course of work need to have detailed information on company assets. The solution can be used together with one or several applications from the Infor EAM family, including Infor EAM Enterprise Edition, Infor EAM Business Edition and Infor EAM MP2.

According to Martie Osborne (Marty Osborn), the senior director of the Infor EAM direction, as a rule, all data on assets and their status are going to uniform base on one of computers of the central office. However often such information is more necessary to "field" employees. The solution allows to organize all necessary data in a type, convenient for specific purposes, by means of the configured templates.

The main difference of a new solution is its capability to support data exchange not with one, and with several different applications at the same time thanks to special multichannel access (multichannel access gateway, MAG) which, by estimates of analysts, reduces total cost of ownership the mobile device by 30-50%. This mechanism is developed together with Blue Dot Solutions company.

The new mobile EAM solution also supports such "advanced" opportunities as use of geographic information systems (GIS), the systems of positioning (GPS), radio frequency identification (RFID), barcodes, and ERP or HRM can be integrated with the different calibration systems and also other corporate systems, for example.

According to the developer, mobile application can be extremely useful at assessment of the current degree of wear of different assets. Thus, the companies will be able to use more perfect strategy of management which are based on the analysis current a status of assets, but not on results of checks through control periods. These measures will allow to reveal and prevent use of excessively worn-out assets timely. Besides, use of a mobile EAM-application will allow to reduce number of errors and to increase work performance.
