According to data of the report of ABI Research Wireless Infrastructure Market Data Huawei pressed Nokia Siemens Networks from the second place on the third.

On April 3, 2012 ABI Research published data of the report of Wireless Infrastructure Market Data on the market of the infrastructure wireless equipment in the fourth quarter 2011. First place is won by the invariable leader – the Swedish company Ericsson with the sales volume about $3.5 billion. On the second there were unexpected motions – progress of Huawei exceeded all expectations, and the company pressed Nokia Networks (before NSN) (NSN) on the third place. Asian and European producers managed to earn in the fourth quarter $2.53 billion and $2.4 billion respectively.

In spite of the fact that the fourth quarter traditionally is the most successful in a year, sales volumes of the infrastructure wireless equipment in 2011 were reduced. Jim Eller, the senior analyst of ABI Research, does not specify as far as, but connects the developing situation with care of the companies in the conditions of an indefinite macroeconomic situation.

Despite the general falling of the market, the achieved results definitely should suit Huawei. The Chinese company increased sales for 54% in comparison with the third quarter and for 38% in comparison with the same period of 2010. It especially is important for business of the infrastructure wireless equipment of vendor if to remember its recent large failure in the market in Australia. The government without explanation imposed ban on participation of Huawei in the large project on deployment of fiber-optical network of national scale with a total cost of $38 billion. Local media connected a cause of failure with the attacks of computer systems which happened the day before allegedly having the Chinese origin.

Obviously, security issues became a stumbling block for continuation of cooperation of Huawei and Symantec whose joint venture existed four years. In November, 2011 representatives of Symantec expressed the intention to sell Huawei the 49% share in Huawei Symantec, and on March 30, 2012 it became known of completion of the transaction. Its cost was $530 million.
