Medium business invests in analytics and clouds

The companies of medium business are again ready to invest actively in IT, and in most innovative solutions. It is said in a research of IBM.

According to the new research of IBM conducted with the assistance of 2000 medium-sized companies from 20 countries, more than a half of them plan increase in the budgets in articles of information technologies during the following year and a half. They invest in a wide range of priorities, including analytics, cloud computing, joint work, mobility and the solutions CRM (customer relationship management).

70% of medium-sized companies actively implement technologies of the analysis for the best understanding of the clients, acceptance of more reasoned decisions and achievement of the best efficiency of the enterprise. The research also shows the growing implementation scope of cloud computing on average business, two thirds of the companies or are going to unroll, or now implement cloud computing for improvement of management of IT systems at simultaneous cost reduction.

These steps are expressed in increase in number of implementations of the intellectual and analytical technologies offered today much more widely and more available to mid-size companies. The research showed: 53% of respondents expect increase in IT budgets within the next 12-18 months, 31% expect that they will remain invariable and 16% think that they will decrease or are not sure of the opinion.

The top list of IT project implementations in the companies of medium business includes the following:

  • Improvement of IT infrastructure - 75%
  • The business analyst / analyst - 70%
  • Joint activity - 70%
  • Business process management (BPM) - 70%
  • Information management - 69%
  • Mobility / unified communications - 68%
  • Virtualization - 67%
  • Cloud computing - 66%

Result of comparison of researches with 2009 demonstrate that the main emphasis is displaced from performance management and costs for growth of initiatives. Today 21% characterize the strategic thinking as "efficiency and cost control" - in comparison with 53% in 2009. 79% of heads of the enterprises worry customer centricity, innovations and growth today.

Among the most important priorities in business for 2011:

  • Reduction cost/improvement of efficiency – 76%
  • Improvement of service of customers – 73%
  • Performance improvement of employees – 70%
  • New approaches to the customer – 67%
  • Optimization of key business processes – 62%
  • Improvement of an intuition for the best decision making – 62%
  • Increase in flexibility / controllability of the enterprise – 60%
  • Joint activity – 58%.
