Oracle and SAP actively advance two approaches to creation of IT infrastructure essentially excellent from each other. Oracle considers that in its basis there have to be solutions of one vendor (Oracle, certainly) whereas believe in SAP that such strategy is deadlock and bars the way to innovations. Ideological discrepancies led to the fact that top managers of the companies publicly criticized the strategy of each other.

Two largest global manufacturers of industrial IT solutions started real war because of a difference in approaches to creation of IT infrastructure of clients. SAP actively advances own partner ecosystem, believing that solutions of several vendors in total give the maximum effect whereas Oracle claims that the only right way for the Chief information officer is use of technologies of Oracle from beginning to end.

At last recently partner conference of SAP in Orlando and Frankfurt the high-ranking managers of the company literally fell with criticism upon approach of Oracle, saying that that too strongly presses on the clients, without giving also the chance of the choice of an optimal solution. The codirector of SAP Bill Makdermot'T (Bill McDermott) openly called use of solutions only of one vendor "the short-sighted choice" and "to the west".

"We do not play these games, we are absolutely indifferent to our competitors even if they want to take control of the whole our lot of clients", - Makdermott added. "We do not want to be as all others in our competitive space, we just want to work more closely with our partners", - the senior representative of SAP said.

As other codirector of the company Jim Snabe added, SAP does not plan in the near future purchase of any company of world level producing "iron" as it has enough cooperation with HP and IBM which deliver the hardware for implementation of business solutions of SAP. Such offer gives the chance to Chief information officers to select the optimal technological solution, claim in SAP, certainly, showering thus a stone in a kitchen garden of Oracle which recently purchased Sun Microsystems.

This new mantra of SAP which representatives of the company persistently repeat at each convenient opportunity completely is contrary to the new strategy of Oracle announced last month by the president of the company Charles Phillips. Then he said that the Chief information officer just I am not able to afford to spend a great lot of time for infinite search of optimal solutions, and then integration of the selected technologies and platforms among themselves.

However, then as Philips fairly was recognized that for most CIO the approach offered Oracle is shocking as the stereotype forcing Chief information officers to arrive exactly the opposite too took roots, at the same time use as the IT base of solutions only of one vendor was always considered as the worst of possible scenarios.

"While we are the only supporters of own strategy, and it is explainable, we have offers of the most different level. The question is in whether it suits people. And we consider that the big percent of the market will change the position and the point of view and realizes that it makes sense", - noted Philips. According to him, the standratization of technologies based on solutions of one vendor is able to afford to save up to 10% of the IT budget in comparison with traditional approach. As Makdermott parried these theses, "any company in itself has no sufficient R&D potential, cannot integrate all innovations, all best business practices and present them to clients".

Both Oracle, and SAP speak about need to be selected from expensive IT swamp in most of which the companies which provision only became aggravated in crisis, however, solutions which are proposed by vendors got stuck are so cardinally opposite that can hardly result in the same result.
