SAP in Mosenergo: for discussions - 10 years, on implementation - year

MosenergoThe JSC company completed the large-scale project on implementation of systems SAP ERP and SAP BI. The total quantity of users of a system made about 1200 people. To complete implementation of the corporate ERP platform, the energy company needed 10 years.

Mosenergo in cooperation with consultants of "Deloitte & Touche CIS" company completed implementation of the SAP ERP and SAP BI systems. This project – only a part of the three-year plan of the company for change of standards of management and to implementation of the corporate information system (CIS) which is implemented since 2008, said in the official statement.

SAP implementation of ERP covered both head office, and a branch network of Mosenergo. The single platform replaced the whole family of separate information systems which functioned in each branch before. What systems of Mosenergo refused for benefit of the uniform corporate standard, the press service of the company did not comment. Also the project budget is not disclosed.

It is reported that the project started in February, 2009 and was fully completed 11 months later – by January, 2010. After three months of active user support at commercial operation of a system, at the beginning of April, 2010 the decision to recognize an implementation project successfully complete was made. As the main project deliverable increase in transparency of business and increase in effective management of information are called.

Meanwhile, according to open sources, relationship  of Mosenergo and SAP CIS began in  2000 (!). Then announced SAP CIS that started project implementation on creation in Mosenergo of a corporate management information system on the basis of the mySAP.com platform. It was supposed that automation about 2.5 thousand jobs had to become a project deliverable which is expected approximately one and a half years.

Apparently, further the parties have disagreement voznkl. In  archives of news releases of internet mass-media data that in 2001 Mosenergo was disappointed in SAP remained and agreed with the Spanish company Soluziona about Open SGC implementation — an automated system of control and accounting of energy consumption whereas lawyers of the energy company were engaged in termination of the previous agreement.

How it was succeeded to recover the relations with SAP and to continue the project several years later, remains an open question. Besides, the fate of implementation which Spaniards undertook is not clear. Let's remind that before transfer of the main business processes to a single corporate platform from SAP  of Mosenergo actively worked for an extent of a row of years in the direction of automation of the front office and sale of thermal energy based on the Oracle platform. In particular, based on Oracle E-Business Suite "Borlas Ah-Bi-Si" was developed and implemented by specialists in Mosenergo the Automated control system for sale of thermal energy (by an ACS it is SOLD the Heating system), which provides completely relationship with consumers of thermal energy from accounting of agreements before formation of payment documents.

Mosenergo did not answer a question why the Oracle platform was not used further for automation of the main business processes and the choice as a result fell on SAP. Also it is not reported how platforms are integrated among themselves now. Let's note, as SAP, and Oracle have rather strong competences of the power industry. In particular, one of the biggest customers of SAP CIS is the largest power supplying company of Ukraine "EK "Dneprooblenergo". Among the biggest customers of Oracle at vertical energy market and housing and public utilities - Central Research Institute Atominform, Perm GRES, Volgogradenergosbyt, Chelyabenergosbyt, SUE Vodokanal of St. Petersburg and others.

As a result of the project which came to the end in April of this year based on SAP ERP all main business processes of the company were automated: purchases, inventory management, sale, management accounting and budgeting, accounting and tax accounting, investments, liquidity managements and crediting. On the basis of SAP BI - the scalable business intelligence and the complex of the reporting necessary for acceptance of management decisions are created. Thus, one more large project based on SAP which implementation as a result took 10 years approached end.
