The first bank in the world gave IT on complete outsourcing

The first-ever retail bank, the British Metro Bank PLC, gave on outsourcing completely all own IT-infrastrukturu. Bank of the beginnings work as summer of 2010, respectively, all IT part was planned and transferred to service to provider even before his opening.

According to the CEO of bank Craig Donaldson, existence of effective IT infrastructure was the critical moment for opening of bank. The strategy of Metro Bank consists in an emphasis on the high level of customer service: unlike other banking institutions, Metro Bank expanded working hours and increased business week up to seven days and also gave to clients an opportunity to receive credit and debit cards directly in departments.

Now the Metro Bank network contains four departments, in the next four years is going to open 40 more, and then to bring a total quantity of branches to two hundred by 2020. Nevertheless, the IT service of the company consists of only 5 people as all functions on service of information infrastructure of bank are transferred to them on outsourcing.

The London company Niu Solutions became the main provider of IT services for bank. The contract type which was concluded by the parties represents "payment in process of growth", i.e. the bank, the, respectively, more bonus provider more expands.

Financial contract details are not disclosed, however, in Metro Bank reported that completely infrastructure part and management of applications, voice and date by services, virtual work places and mobile technologies and also the bank website, a support service and two data centers are transferred to outsourcing.

From the key Metro Bank applications uses popular bank software of Temenos, and as the accounting system a mix from software products Oracle, SAP and IBM.

Moreover, the new bank player provides to the clients online banking, and next year is going to start service of mobile banking. In plans of further development - creation of a system which will allow to make out personal credit cards online, use of RFID technologies in mobile devices to apply them to contactless payments.
