The server market of Russia grew by 25%

The second quarter was productive for the Russian server market: consolidated revenues of producers grew by a quarter in annual terms. In spite of the fact that demand is close to saturation, the enterprises aim as it is possible to master more actively IT budgets on the eve of elections which traditionally bear economic uncertainty.

According to the quarterly research IDC Russia Quarterly Server Tracker, in the second quarter 2011 in Russia 33.95 thousand servers of standard architecture were sold. It is 7.9% more, than quarter before, and corresponds to growth by 25.3% in annual terms. Revenue of producers reached $141.5 million.

Several large-scale projects became the reason of "the impressive growth" in a segment of "heavy" servers, the report says. In the second quarter 2011 it was implemented the equipment for $81.5 million that is 80% more, than last quarter. In comparison with the second quarter 2010 growth was 45%. The large number of mainframes of IBM and the Superdome 2 HP systems was delivered to a number of big customers.

The international players strengthened the positions in the Russian market. Especially successful the second quarter appeared for IBM. On the volume of total proceeds from deliveries of servers to this company more than a third of the Russian market was necessary that corresponds to growth by 6% in comparison with the last quarter. Totally HP and IBM control almost 80% of the server market of Russia in terms of money.

Also it is noted that in deliveries to the Russian market the share of the solutions intended for operation in specialized ecosystems increases. This trend affects, in particular, a segment of commercial DPCs which continues to grow, both at the level of the areas put into operation, and on number sold to clients of racks.

At once several international players are going to strengthen the presence in the Russian market. Hitachi Data Systems expressed the intention to advance in Russia the blade system while Acer unveiled ambitious plans for sharp increase in a market share at the expense of domestic collectors. Also the beginning of deliveries to commercial consumers of complete solutions attracts attention Oracle Exadata.

According to Alexander Zagnetko, the analyst of IDC Russia, two have an impact on the Russian server market now "extremely important a factor". On the one hand, in many industries solvent demand for server solutions is close to saturation, on the other hand – a number of big customers aims to master as much as possible quickly IT budgets before there comes the uncertainty period connected with elections. "It becomes especially obvious by comparison of quarter dynamics in segments of servers of standard architecture, EPIC-, CISC-and RISC systems", - he concluded.
