Windows XP celebrated 10-year anniversary

Microsoft did not celebrate this anniversary, having refrained from mentioning of an event in the blog and press releases.

On August 24, 2001 Microsoft changed the status Windows XP with RTM – "the version for producers". The company uses this term for designation of the end of product development, transition to creation of copies and release for computer makers. In retail sale the XP operating system appeared in October, 2001.

Deliveries of Windows XP SP2 or "Service Pack 2" began three years later, in August, 2004.

The analyst considers Windows 7 the operating system noteworthy even if not far off Windows 8 which as analysts believe, will appear during the period from April to October, 2013.

If Windows 8 is steady, then transition to it from Windows 7 will be rather easier, than from "aged" XP. Microsoft assures clients that any computer working under Windows 7 will be able to work with Windows 8. And if in Windows 8 there are errors, then Windows 7 will ensure network security as XP provided it for Windows Vista of edition of 2007 most of which of users refused.

Cherry expressed concern about Windows 8 earlier, repeated the concerns and today. "It seems that they change a lot of things in Windows 8", - he told, having pointed to announcements which Microsoft made at the beginning of this summer and also emergence of information on the preparing Windows 8 last week.

According to Cherry, a large number of changes in Windows 8 increases the probability of unpredictable effects. Happen it during development, updating can drag on. If it occurs after its exit, Vista system fiasco when many clients complained of compatibility of drivers of devices will repeat.

According to researches of the company Net Applications, Windows 7 increases use share for the account XP and Vista. At the end of July the share Windows 7 made 29.7% of all operating systems while XP occupied 49.8%, having for the first time fallen marks of 50% are lower. According to statements Microsoft, support Windows XP, namely SP3, will last till April, 2014.
