Biography

Born in 1975 in Arkhangelsk.

He graduated from Pomeranian State University. M.V. Lomonosov with a degree in jurisprudence.

Since 1997, he worked in the prosecutor's office.

From 2006 to 2007 - Investigator of the central office of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.

In 2007, he began working in the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. He was a senior investigator for particularly important cases under the chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

In April 2016, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

On January 22, 2020, on the proposal of President V.V. Putin, he was approved by the Federation Council for the post of Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.

2025: Appointment as Head of the Supreme Court of Russia

In September 2025, the constitutional committee of the Federation Council supported the candidacy of the current Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov for the post of chairman of the Supreme Court. Krasnov said that the legal community is discussing the issue of "deep specialization" of judges in considering specific cases and a number of other issues related to pre-trial settlement. He spoke about proposals to create a personal account in the information system in the Supreme Court, where a person can file an appeal, receive summons, submit petitions.[1]

He has state awards, including: medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree (2011), certificate of honor of the President of the Russian Federation (2014).
