Akio Morita is the founder of Sony company.

Was born on January 26, 1921 in Nagoya, in family of respectable vinokur. Died of pneumonia at the age of 78 years, on October 3, 1999.

Education

Akio Morita did not wish to study ancient skill and to cook sake as it was done by all his relatives to the fifteenth knee inclusive. Outside there was the 20th century, and the boy was interested in mathematics and physics. Strangely enough, the father approved the solution of the son and permitted it to follow in the way. Having graduated from school, Akio arrived on physics and technology faculty of the Imperial university in Osaka. The young physicist was distinguished by sharp mind, vivid imagination and ease in communication. In 1944 Akio Morita gained the diploma. Then it was called up for military service - he got into marines and even received an officer rank. And in several months to it job invitation came to the town of Yokosuko, to aviation research laboratories "Companies of Exact Tools of Japan". The director of the company of Masaru Ibuk was very interested in talented young scientists and, browsing lists of graduates of the University, paid attention to Akio Morita.

Career

The person of remarkable energy, Morita managed to combine work on executive position in one of leaders of the Japanese industry with active life. In 40 years he began to be engaged in golf, in 50 - tennis, in 60 - a water ski, and at the age of 69 years made the first immersion with an aqualung. The he did not ignore also policy. In collaboration with the current governor of Tokyo Sintaro Ishihara of Morit wrote the book "Japan able to tell "no" which became a reason for large scandal between official Tokyo and Washington. In this book Morita called the American corporate culture of the end of the 80th "inclined to slackness and abuses". In Japan Morita was considered as a rebel. He, as well as Soichiro Honda, broke the traditions which settled for centuries. But nevertheless Morita - a striking example of east businessman. Japanese very patiently treat losses at the beginning of activity of firm for the sake of the subsequent long-term benefit. One of Morita's axioms said: "The market share is more important, than immediate profit... Despite some negative aspects, the competition is a key factor of development of the industry and technology". About some people it is accepted to say that with their death an era comes to an end. Akio Morita quite deserves the similar expression. Despite a loud position of "founder", since 1994 Morita and Sony Corp. actually existed independently. Changes in the sector of consumer radio electronics of the last years are so considerable that in them it is easier for businessmen of a new formation to be guided. Digital methods of information processing, multimedia, pervasive computing, convergence between computer business and trade in consumer radio electronics - all this signs of modern times. And already depends on other generation of engineers and managers whose destiny will be repeated by the next innovation which entered the market - a risovarka or a player of Walkman.
