Biography

2020: Appointment as the director of the European department of the IMF

On July 15, 2020 the International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced Alfred Kammer's appointment the new director of the European department in which introduction including there is also Russia.

Alfred Kammer officially will begin to execute duties of the head of the European department of the IMF on August 1, 2020, having released Dane Poul Tomsen from this duty. The last in the past headed representative office of the IMF in Moscow and the mission of fund for Russia. Tomsen worked in fund within 37 years, and Kammer — 28 years (as of July 15, 2020).

As noted in the IMF, Kammer participated in programs of support of economies on time of a transient period after falling of the Berlin wall and also was in Russia as the representative during crisis of 1998. He headed work on the international monetary system for strengthening of world financial security and took part in the work of fund connected with the G20 and G7, said in its message.

Before heading the European department of the IMF, Kammer within three years worked as the chief of staff of the managing director of fund and closely interacted with Kristalina Georgieva.[1]
