2024: Sentence - 3 years restraint for botched facial surgery
At the end of March 2024, the Leninsky District Court of Krasnodar sentenced the plastic surgeon of the Medist clinic Andrei Komarov to three years of restriction of freedom in the case of an unsuccessful operation for a patient from Sochi.
According to the joint press service of the courts of the Krasnodar Territory, due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, Andrei Komarov was released from the sentence.
According to the investigation and the court, Komarov performed operations on the woman with defects in the provision of medical care. In particular, the volume of dissected tissues was incorrectly planned, the surgical technique and management of the patient in the postoperative period were disrupted. As a result, the patient developed complications that led to eyelid failure and other defects.
After the operation, facial expressions became unavailable to the girl, she could not even blink. It was not possible to completely eliminate the consequences of the operation. As a result, the model is forced to wear a mask.
The victim is Vice Mrs. Russia International-2020 from Sochi Yulia Tarasevich. She told RIA Novosti that she underwent three plastic surgeries at the Medist medical center, after which she cannot close her eyes, "half of her face does not work."
The prosecutor in the court debate of the parties qualified Komarov's actions under Part 2 of Art. 118 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - causing grievous bodily harm by negligence, committed as a result of improper performance by a person of his professional duties. Andrei Komarov did not admit his guilt.
RIA Novosti recalls that earlier the Krasnodar court considered a statement of claim against the clinics of Medist LLC and Alfa-Beauty LLC and recovered 5 million rubles from the first clinic in favor of Yulia Tarasevich and her husband.
Initially, a criminal case was initiated against two plastic surgeons, but only one doctor went to court.[1]
