2021: Resignation from the post of head of the Czech Ministry of Health
At the end of May 2021, it became known that Petr Arenberger, the Czech Minister of Health, who came under the close attention of the media due to property violations, was leaving his post. It will be replaced by the former Minister of Health ChehiiAdam Voytech (Adam Vojtěch) who will be appointed to this position by the prime minister Andrej Babis (Andrej Babiš).
I can already say that the new minister will not be the fifth [from the beginning of the pandemic], but the fourth, and this will be Adam Vojtech. In September, after a severe pandemic wave, he decided to leave. I was sorry to part with him, I think he was a very good minister. Now we have agreed that he will return to work and remain in the post of minister until the end of the work of this government, "Babish said during the morning briefing. |
Vojtech unexpectedly resigned in September 2020 due to an unexpected increase in COVID-19 cases in the country. Babis said that Vojtech's appointment has not yet been discussed with President Milos Zeman.
Former director of the Vinograda University Hospital in Prague, Peter Arenberger, was sworn in and became Minister of Health only on April 7, 2021. However, the media criticized the new minister for withholding information about her property (about 65 objects), which Arenberger did not consider necessary to indicate in tax returns. It also turned out that he rented undeclared property to a university hospital. This deal was signed before Arenberger was appointed director of the hospital.
Prime Minister Andrei Babis said Arenberger called him in Brussels, where Babis is attending a summit of European Union leaders to announce his resignation. According to Babish, the minister decided to resign due to pressure on the family.[1]
