Verner von Siemens is the famous German engineer, the inventor, the scientist, the industrialist, the founder of Siemens company, the public and political figure. Was born on December 13, 1816, died on December 6, 1892.

Verner von Siemens had a huge impact on technology development of the modern world. The Siemens company which it founded by the end of 2016 is leading manufacturer of solutions in the field of electrification, automation and digitalization. The staff of Siemens is about 351 thousand people working more than in 200 countries of the world.

1847: Foundation of Siemens

Verner of Siemens together with the talented mechanic Johann George Galske founded Siemens & Halske company which, in addition to sale of telegraphs, covered a set of fields of exact mechanics and optics. The firm was engaged also in creation of electromedical devices.

1889: Leaving from management of Siemens

Since 1889 Verner began to be taken by Siemens from active company management of Siemens & Halske which by then together with branches in London, St. Petersburg and Vienna, consisted already of 5000 employees. At the end of 1889 Siemens finally departed from the management of Siemens & Halske.

2016: Siemens celebrates the 200 anniversary of the founder

On December 13, 2016 exactly 200 years since the birth of Vernera von Siemens were performed. Siemens celebrated this anniversary on November 29, having held a festive event in Mosaic Hall building located in the territory of the company headquarters in Berlin.

The action devoted to the celebration of the 200 anniversary since the birth of Siemens was attended German Chancellor Angela Merkel and also by more than 100 eminent persons representing the government, science, culture, business and mass media.

The ceremony was opened by the president and the CEO of Siemens Joe Kayser (Joe Kaeser). The speech was also made by the member of the supervisory board of the company Gerhard Cromme and Natali von Nathalie von Siemens, the pra-great-great-granddaughter of Vernera von Siemens, the managing director and the representative of Board of Directors of the board of trustees of Siemens Stiftung fund.[1]
