Education

In the 1997th graduated from the Moscow state automobile and road institute (Moscow Administrative Road Inspectorate) in "automation of technology processes and productions".

In the 2000th completed training in Financial academy at the Government of the Russian Federation in "finance and the credit", received qualification of the economist.

Biography

2003-2004: The beginning of work in Citibank

In 2003 Mikhail Berner began work in Citibank. Then he became one of the first employees of a command on start of business of credit cards. In July of the 2004th took a position of the marketing director, with his direct participation credit cards of bank in Russia, the advertizing campaigns of consumer loans, the CitiGold Wealth Management programs were started.

2005-2006: Work in the regional headquarters of Citi in London

From 2005 to 2006 Mikhail Berner worked in the regional headquarters of Citi in London and directed development of sales channels of credit cards in 24 countries.

2019: Appointment as the head of the Russian office

On September 17, 2019 Visa announced Mikhail Berner's appointment the new CEO of the Russian representative office. He will release Ekaterina Petelina who passes to a position of the chief operating officer in the region of North America (the USA and Canada) and moves to San Francisco from this duty. Petelina directed the Russian office of an international payment system more than three years.

Since November 1, 2019, Berner will execute duties of the CEO and the senior vice president of the Russian office Visa. He will submit to Andrew Torre, the regional president in CEMEA region (Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa) and also will be a part of regional managerial council of Visa, reported in the press service of the company.

The company reported that Mikhail Berner, having headed the Russian division, will supervise questions of "strategy implementation of business development and implementation of the innovative solutions in one of strategically important and high-growth Visa markets".

Berner before arrival to the Russian office Visa worked in "Citi Russia" where held a position of the board member and directed directorate on work with private clients. Also he was responsible for business development of consumer crediting.
