2024: Appointment as CEO of RPF
In April 2024, it was announced the appointment of a new Director General of the Russian Science Foundation (RNF). He, in accordance with the order of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, became the rector of the National Research University "Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology" (MIET) Vladimir Bespalov. He replaced Alexander Khlunov, who headed the fund since 2013.
As reported on the website of the RNF, Vladimir Bespalov is a doctor of technical sciences, professor, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is the author and co-author of more than 200 scientific papers, 5 monographs and 50 copyright certificates. In addition, the new head of the Russian Science Foundation is a member of the Council for Science and Education under the President of the Russian Federation and a laureate of the presidential prize in the field of education, an honorary worker of science and technology of the Russian Federation, a holder of the Order of Friendship.
Vladimir Bespalov is also a specialist in the field of physics and technology of heterostructures, element base, micro- and nanoelectronics, devices of microsystem technology, indicated on the website of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The Russian Science Foundation is a non-profit organization engaged in organizational and financial support of scientific research, as well as training and the development of scientific teams. The RSF is considered the main foundation in Russia that issues grants to scientists.
Vladimir Putin, during his message to the Federal Assembly at the end of February 2024, called science the basis of the country's technological development, and the domestic scientific infrastructure a powerful advantage of Russia. The head of state announced the need to more than double investments in development and become one of the leading countries in the world. The President also noted that the private sector should invest more in the scientific sphere.[1]
