2022: Fired from Apple
At the end of September 2022, Apple Vice President Tony Blevins, who led all purchases and negotiations with suppliers, was fired from the company due to a video on social networks.
The video was published on September 5, 2022 on TikTok. Blevins was approached by a blogger who created a series of videos in which Blevins asks owners of expensive cars about their profession. The blogger stopped Blevins while parking a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren sports car. Asked what he does for a living, Blevins said unexpectedly: "I have luxury cars, I play golf and caress big-breasted beauties." The video has received more than 40 thousand likes on Instagram and 1.3 million views on TikTok.
In fact, Blevins is Apple's vice president of purchasing and is responsible for making deals with suppliers and partners. He recently worked on the company's satellite agreement with Globalstar, negotiated cell modems with Qualcomm and Intel, and was responsible for lowering the cost of many important parts that make up Apple's mobile devices.
After the video was published, a number of Apple employees contacted human resources department, and the company began an internal investigation into this. After conducting an internal investigation, Blevins' team, which included about half a dozen direct subordinates and several hundred employees, was removed from his command, according to people familiar with the situation.
According to its results, as an Apple representative said on September 29, 2022, the top manager was fired. According to Bloomberg, Blevins' departure creates a vacuum in Apple's strategic directions. Tony Blevins has been instrumental in the company's success since 2022, helping to increase profit margins and ensure access to key technologies ahead of competitors, colleagues said.[1]
