Education

As a graduate of Busan University, Cho Joo-wan received a master's degree in business from Yonsei University in Seoul.

Career

1987-1995

Cho Joo-wan joined LG Electronics in 1987, which at that time was called Goldstar, and spent more than half of his 34-year career in foreign branches of the company. Starting with a branch in Dusseldorf in 1995, he worked at LG Electronics in Germany, Canada, Australia and the United States.

2014-2020

When he headed the branch in the United States from 2014 to 2017, revenues in the United States grew by 12%, which led to his promotion as the leader of the North American region in 2017.

Since 2020, Cho Ju-wan served as chief strategic officer of LG Electronics and was looking for a "formula for victory and successful changes," according to the company's statement.

In this position, he helped establish the LG Business Incubation Center to develop new business opportunities with the help of his own enterprises, as well as startup partners, and introduced new processes, such as internal crowdsourcing and CIC (Company in the company), the company said in a statement.

2021: Appointment as CEO of LG Electronics

On November 25, 2021, LG Electronics announced that it had promoted its chief strategy officer, Cho Ju-wan, to CEO, and appointed 50 new executives to open new business opportunities and focus on digital transformation. Cho Ju-wan will take the highest post of the company on December 1, 2021.

On November 25, LG Electronics also announced three new deputy chairmen: Kim Byung-hoon as chief technical officer, Chiang Ik-hwan as executive vice president and Eun Sok-hyun as president of Vehicle Component Solutions.
