2022: Appointment as Head of Orange

On January 28, 2022, Orange approved Christel Heidemann as CEO. She will begin her duties on April 4, 2022.

Appointing Christel Heidemann, who at the end of January 2022 is executive vice president of operations in Europe and a member of the executive committee of Schneider Electric, Orange's board of directors chose a candidate recognized for her experience in the telecommunications sector and in managing business transformation. Orange's board also decided to split the roles of chairman and CEO after Christel Heidemann took office. This decision will not be actively appointed until another chairman of the board of directors is appointed, but no later than May 19, 2022, the date of the annual general meeting of Orange shareholders, the press release said.

I would like to thank the board members for their trust. As a member of the board of directors since 2017, I have gained a deep understanding of the technological challenges and opportunities that face us. I know that they are significant, but at the same time it is a great honor for me to contribute to the development of one of the players in our industry, and Orange will fully give itself to the work while we solve this problem. I also know that I can count, like my predecessor, on the loyalty of all employees of the company to lead Orange to success, "said Orange CEO Kristel Heidemann.

The previous head of Orange Stefan Richard resigned at the end of 2021 after a French court sentenced him to suspended imprisonment for one year in a case of illegal payments states to entrepreneur Bernard Tapi. The Paris Court of Appeal ruled Richard to pay a fine of €50 thousand.[1]
