Pavel Durov suggested that investors take 72% of the invested funds (in the case of Zotobi it was $720 000) or leave the money in the project for another year and after that time receive 110% from the amount of investments. Chuprin refused both the first and the second option.
2022: Court loss in an attempt to reclaim TON investments
On February 6, 2022, the London International Arbitration Court rejected the lawsuit of mobile application developer Zotobi Management Limited against Telegram Group Inc. and TON Issuer Inc. for compensation of $280 thousand. This became known in early April 2022.
According to Forbes, the court rejected all claims of Zotobi, and also demanded that the company cover the legal costs of Telegram for $700 thousand and the costs of the court for 55.9 thousand pounds.
andIn court, the plaintiff said that "in a hurry" he decided to invest in TON and did not read documents for investors with a list of risks before he signed an agreement on the purchase of cryptocurrency, the court said. Chuprin insisted in the lawsuit that he did not receive documents listing risks from Telegram.
Despite this, the court decided that Chuprin had the opportunity to familiarize himself with these documents, since they were published in the public domain on the Internet and discussed in the blockchain community, or "understood all the risks, and they did not bother him." In addition, the Gram purchase agreement signed by Chuprin states that he has read the risk information.
The London court not only decided that the investor did not have the right to demand the remaining part of the investment, but also had to cover the legal costs.[1]
