Biography
Was born on August 29, 1939 in the city of San Francisco.
In 1964 graduated from Stanford University where then received a doctor's degree in the field of materials science.
In 1964-65 trained in National physical laboratory of Great Britain, and in 1972 worked in Technical University of Denmark.
In 1974 Barrett began to work in Intel where gradually served to a position of the president of corporation in 1997. In 1992 joined Intel the board.
On July 20, 1999 Barrett was included into the National commission of the USA on natural-science and mathematical formation of the 21st century.
On June 3, 2008 was entitled the Honourable doctor of Novosibirsk State University.
At the beginning of 2009 left Intel, having completely devoted itself to the World Ahead program and UN committee on development of information and telecommunication technologies.
Since 2010 - the cochairman of Council of Skolkovo Foundation. Resigned at the end of 2017.
The first winner of the Award of the President of the Republic of Armenia for a world deposit to an information technology sphere (2010).
