2023: Dismissal as CEO of Logitech

On June 13, 2023, it became known that Logitech CEO Bracken Darrell would leave Logitech after 10 years of work. According to a press release from the Swiss computer peripherals manufacturer, Darrell will leave the company within a month to "take advantage of another opportunity."

The dismissal of the general director of Logitech became known a month after the company announced a sharp (by 17%) reduction in revenue at the end of the 2023 financial year. Following Darrel's resignation, Logitech shares fell 8.6% in value. The intensifying economic downturn continues to prevent the company from supporting growth typical of the pre-COVID-19 pandemic era. However, from the beginning of 2023 and the return of people to educational institutions and offices, Logitech's revenues began to fall, which did not like the company's board of directors, Reuters reported in mid-June 2023.

Darrell, who became Logitech's CEO in 2013, will remain with the company for the coming month to ease the transition while a replacement search is underway, Logitech said on the evening of June 13, 2023.

Bracken Darrell stressed that he plans to remain a client, shareholder and ardent supporter of Logitech and its products. Meanwhile, board member Guy Gecht will temporarily act as CEO, Logitech said. Gecht's candidacy was also supported by Logitech Chairman Wendy Becker.

The press release notes that under the leadership of Bracken Darrell, Logitech made several major acquisitions, bought Blue Microphones for $177 million, which manufactures microphones, headphones, and recorders. Logitech acquired gaming headset maker Astro for $85 million, as well as streaming software company Streamlabs for $89 million.[1]
