Biography

1979-2024

It is known from open sources that Dosmambetov was born on January 20, 1979. Graduated from Kyrgyz State National University, has a law degree. From 2001 to 2017, he worked in various positions in the national security agencies. After that, he moved to the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (GKNB), where he served as head of the Issyk-Kul District Directorate (2017-2018), head of the Anti-Corruption Directorate (2018-2020), deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Service (2020-2021), head of the 6th Directorate (2021-2023) and head of the Jalal-Abad Directorate (from 2023).

2025: Appointment as Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan

On December 23, 2025, the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Local Self-Government and Regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh approved the candidacy of Kanybek Dosmambetov for the post of Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan. For the first time in the history of the country, this post was taken by a person without medical education.

As the speaker of the parliament Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu noted, the appointment of Dosmambetov to the post of Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan is a political decision. Earlier, his candidacy was approved by relevant committees. In his new position, Dosmambetov intends to focus efforts, including on reforms in the health sector.

I always say that in health, culture and education systems, it is time to put strong managers in leadership positions. It is not necessary that the head of culture is a cultural figure, a singer, the Minister of Health is a physician, and the Minister of Education is a teacher.
