2025: Prison sentence for assigning employee bonuses

In mid-September 2025, the Saki District Court Crimea found the former deputy chief - Crimean clinical sanatorium named after N.I. Pirogov Ministry of Defence RUSSIAN FEDERATION a 58-year-old resident of the city of Sevastopol - guilty of large-scale fraud. She received a prison sentence for assigning employee bonuses.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, Elena Sharapova is a defendant in the case. The investigation found that for a little more than three years, by deceiving subordinate employees, she systematically committed theft of funds belonging to them, paid as bonuses. Seven employees from the human resources department and structural divisions, including their managers, were recognized as victims. Each of them suffered damage in the amount of 48,000 rubles to 1,065,000 rubles. At the same time, the total amount of funds stolen in this way amounted to 3,073,500 rubles.

Sharapova was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed on an especially large scale). During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, the defendant fully compensated for the damage to each of the victims. Taking this into account, as well as in connection with a number of circumstances mitigating the punishment, and the lack of aggravating circumstances, the culprit was sentenced to one year in prison with serving in a general regime correctional colony. In addition, Sharapova was fined 400,000 rubles. At the same time, the arrest imposed on her funds, including in foreign currency, seized during the preliminary investigation, was preserved.

The culprit was taken into custody in the courtroom. The sentence passed, as noted, by the state prosecution, the victims, the convict and his defender were not appealed.[1]
