2020: Resignation from a post of the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health

On March 30, 2020 it was announced resignation of the Minister of Health of Ukraine Ilya Emts. Appointed the former head of the Odessa regional public administration Maxim Stepanov to the position of the new Minister of Health. Such solution at an emergency meeting on Monday was supported by 246 deputies at a necessary minimum in 226 voices.

On the batch website Voice is said that in three weeks of work Emets "proved the complete insolvency to fulfill the minister's duties", in particular "failed" preparation of Ukraine for fight against a coronavirus COVID-19 and the organization of testing of the population. Emets wrote the withdrawal letter at own will.

Emets some days before the dismissal publicly recognized bad readiness of a health care system of Ukraine for fight against spread of a coronavirus. The minister called the first stage of fight against COVID-19 prevention of a disease, the second – accident localization, the third — a treatment stage.

Unfortunately, we should note that the medical system of Ukraine is not ready to it for many reasons — he said.

On March 23, 2020 Ilya Emets specified in an interview to 112 TV channel that average life expectancy of men in Ukraine makes 65 years, and therefore, he added, in propagation conditions of a new coronavirus the authorities need to count how many it is necessary "to select finance for living people, but not on corpses". According to  the website Worldometers, by March 30, 2020 in Ukraine 480 people caught a coronavirus, 11 patients died, and six recovered.

Besides,  according to  the Ukrainian media, Ilya Emets for incomplete month of being the Minister of Health was already involved in scandal with suspension of purchases of drugs because of the conflict with the director of state enterprise supplier.^[1]
