Filaret Galchev occupied the sixth place in the rating of the Russian billionaires of the Forbes magazine whose status decreased most strongly for the last ten years — at the businessman it was reduced by $1.9 billion. In the rating of the largest Russian businessmen of 2010 it took the 32nd place. But in February, 2016 it lost 6.12% of stocks of the largest producer of cement in the world — LafargeHolcim — worth $1.35 billion as a result marzhin-call in Sberbank, and to the 2018th its status decreased to $1 billion (the 66th place). With a cut-off in $500 million it did not get to Forbes rating of 2019.

Takes 31 places in the rating of the Russian-language version of Forbes "The richest businessmen of Russia — 2011"^[1]. Filaret Galchev's fortune is estimated in 3.5 billion dollars.

Biography

Education

In 1991 graduated from the Moscow mining institute majoring in "The mining engineer-economist". In 1995 defended the master's thesis on the subject "Economic Case of Formation of Regional Sales Market of Coal".

Is a full member of Academy of Mining sciences, the member of the International Power Academy, has more than 22 scientific works, one of the first in the scientific works considered a problem and proved methodology of segmentation of the coal market and formation of competitive price of coal products.

In 1997 the monograph "Marketing of Coal in Russia" is published, and the book "Marketing of Coal in Russia" is published later. At the end of 1998 completed the work on the doctoral dissertation on the subject "Market Development of Coal of Russia" which successfully defended on January 22, 1999 at a meeting of Dissertation Council of Academy of National Economy with award of an academic degree of the Doctor of Economics.

In 2003 there was a book "Current Problems of Economy of Mining". On October 20, 2004 the academic status of professor of department of Economy and planning of mining of the Moscow state Mining University is given.

Now continues to conduct scientific work, is engaged in training of young specialists for the cement industry. Gives lectures on economy to students of the Moscow state Mining University, performing connection of modern scientific research with practice of cement production.

Career

From 1992 to 1993 - the CEO of the International trading house of mining industry.

From 1993 to 1997 headed Management of the organization of the market of coal of the State enterprise the Russian coal company "Rosugol".

Since April, 1997 - the CEO, and since 1999 - the chairman of the board of Rosuglesbyt Company Ltd.

Since 2000 Filaret Ilyich Galchev is the Chairman of the board of Rosuglesbyt Company, the Chairman of the board of directors of Krasnoyarsk Coal Company. In partnership with Sergey Generalov redeemed a controlling stake of Krasnoyarsk Coal Company. Afterwards sold this packet to "MDM industrial group".

Since 2002 - the President of JSC Rosuglesbyt Company, the Chairman of the board of directors of JSC Evrotsement, since 2004 till present – the Chairman of the board of directors of EVROTSEMENT Group Ltd.

Social and political activity

The recognized specialist in the field of the coal market, was a member of the interdepartmental working group at the Government of the Russian Federation for operational consideration of questions on providing the country with fuel of the vital objects. Repeatedly participated in the meetings held in the Government of the Russian Federation concerning preparation of the energy industry enterprises for work in winter conditions.

• On March 21, 2008 it is awarded with the International federation of the integrated styles of fight (FILA) the highest award of the organization – "The gold award FILA".
• At the end of 2011 the solution of editorial list of the host of the international trade publication "CemWeek" it is announced by the person of year as the most influential in the cement sector at the end of 2011.
