2023: Sentence - 7 years in prison for helping to withdraw Rusnano funds abroad
In October 2024, the Khoroshevsky Court of Moscow sentenced Valery Glavatsky to seven years in prison in absentia, who was accused of complicity in a particularly large embezzlement and money laundering.
The Kommersant newspaper cites data from court materials, from which it follows that Valery Glavatsky contributed to the withdrawal abroad of 358 million rubles allocated by the state corporation Rosnanotech (later OJSC Rusnano) to create an enterprise for the development of drugs.
The court and the investigation found that Glavatsky's role was to create, with the help of persons controlled by him, conditions for making decisions by the board of directors of a medical company to distribute money to the accounts of firms of accomplices in the crime.
Having committed the theft of funds, Glavatsky and one of the accomplices registered a company through which, in the period from November 2010 to April 2014, they ensured the commission of illegal financial transactions to transfer stolen funds under the guise of payments on transactions, with the accumulation of more than 358 million rubles in the accounts of companies controlled by them, - said the capital's prosecutor's office. |
They also added that, together with the verdict, the civil claim of the injured party was satisfied. To ensure the recovery of the claim, the court left Glavatsky's property and funds under arrest.
The trial in the Glavatsky case began in December 2022. The rest of the defendants in the case have already been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. After the announcement of the verdict, his lawyer said that he intends to exercise the right to appeal the decision, since Glavatsky does not consider himself guilty.
A criminal case on the fact of a particularly large embezzlement was initiated by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in November 2016, after the bankruptcy trustee of the bankrupt NTpharma concluded that the company had all the signs of insolvency back in 2012.[1]
