Biography
Thomas Holtrop was born in 1954 in Germany. He studied psychology at the University of Freiburg and business administration with a degree in Economics and Production Organization at the German Academy of Civil Servants.
From 1989 to 1999, he worked in banking, including serving as vice president of American Express International Inc in New York, Frankfurt and London, and served on the Board of Directors of Bank 24 AG and Deutsche Bank 24 AG.
From 2001 to 2004, he served as president of T-Online International AG, which, under the leadership of Holtrop, took a leading position in the broadband Internet market in Europe. From 2002 to 2004, he was a member of the Board of Directors of Deutsche Telekom AG, where he was responsible for the development of broadband services.
From 2005 to 2006, Holtrop held the position of chief executive officer of the travel company Thomas Cook AG.
In the period 2005-2011 he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Gruner & Jahr (Hamburg).
From 2009 to 2011, Mr. Holtrop was a member of the Board of Directors of Comstar-OTS OJSC, Chairman of the Audit Committee, member of the Strategy Committee, Remuneration and Nomination Committee under the Board of Directors of Comstar-OTS OJSC.
2022: Confirmation of Independent Director Status
On June 24, 2022, MTS PJSC announced the decisions of the Board of Directors of MTS PJSC adopted at the meeting. It was decided to confirm the status of independent director for Thomas Holthrop. Read more here.
