2018: Rape and detention allegations

At the end of 2018, the Investigative Committee reported that on December 19, in one of the state budgetary health care institutions, the suspect, taking advantage of the helpless condition of three patients, born in 1997, 2001 and 2002, who were in the ward after operations with general anesthesia, alternately committed violent acts of a sexual nature against two victims, and raped the other.

The doctor was detained in 2018 after an appeal from a resident of Tosno, who announced depraved actions against her 15-year-old daughter. In the future, it became known about other victims.

The media wrote that after the arrest, the doctor's health worsened. He was hospitalized and treated under guard.

2020:10 years in prison for raping female patients under anaesthesia

On July 9, 2020, the Leninsky District Court of St. Petersburg found 60-year-old Armen Hovhannisyan guilty of raping patients at the Yuvent Consulting and Diagnostic Center (CDC), in which he worked as an anesthesiologist-resuscitator. According to the investigation, the victims of the doctor's crimes were under the influence of general anesthesia.

Six patients of medical institutions, including minors, became victims of the criminal. As Fontanka clarifies , Hovhannisyan, who works in the clinic as an anesthesiologist, raped teenagers who came to their senses after anesthesia in the wards. The court found two rapes and four episodes of sexual assault proven.

Hovhannisyan was sentenced to 10 years in a strict regime colony and paid 70 thousand rubles in compensation for moral damage. In addition, for six years he will not be able to engage in medical activities. The doctor did not admit his guilt.^[1]
