Podnosova over the past 3.5 years has considered more than 11,000 complaints about economic disputes and took part in the preparation of decisions for the Plenum of the Armed Forces, according to the publication of the publication of April 1, 2024.
Podnosova was the only candidate who submitted documents for appointment as the new chairman of the Supreme Court of Russia. The post became vacant after the death of Vyacheslav Lebedev, who headed the Supreme Court for 34 years. Lebedev died on February 24, 2024 - according to Kommersant, as a result of a long cancer. Since Lebedev's death, the duties of the chairman of the Supreme Court have been temporarily performed by First Deputy Pyotr Serkov.
According to a Vedomosti source, the appointment of Irina Podnosova to the post of chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation means continuity in the work of the Armed Forces after Lebedev's death. Another interlocutor of the publication noted that "the good thing is that she is a person from the judicial system."[1]
