On December 23, 2025, the Basmanny District Court Moscow sentenced former high-ranking investigator (Investigative Committee Russia TFR) Alexander Izbenko. He received 10 years in prison for the theft of material evidence and seized property for a total of 200 million over 12 years. rubles

According to Kommersant, the court found Izbenko guilty of committing crimes under Part 3 and 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (appropriation or embezzlement using official position on a significant, large and especially large scale).

The investigation and the court found that in the period from January 2011 to October 2023, Alexander Izbenko, holding the posts of investigator, senior investigator, acting head and deputy head of the department of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, systematically stole material evidence and seized property.

Money and valuables seized from victims, witnesses, accused and organizations were placed in Izbenko's office. There he opened the packages and appropriated the contents.

In addition to punishment in the form of imprisonment in a general regime colony, Alexander Izbenko was fined 3 million rubles. 19,077,001 rubles were collected from him in state income. The civil claims of the victims are also satisfied.

Izbenko is deprived of the right to hold positions related to the exercise of the functions of a government representative and work in law enforcement agencies for a period of three years, as well as state awards, including the medal of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, II degree, and the special rank of Colonel of Justice.

According to Kommersant, the criminal activity of Alexander Izbenko was revealed during the inventory of cases and material evidence in his production. In the fall of 2023, he resigned from the TFR of his own free will and left for Donbass, where he was detained.[1][2]
