Biography

1976-2015

Cho Son Jin joined LG in 1976, having entered then a command which later developed four years the first automatic washer. For the long career in LG he replaced several high-ranking positions, including headed department of development of washers, and in 2015 he was appointed the head of Home Appliance & Air Solution — the division which is engaged in release of home appliances and conditioners.

2016: Appointment of LG Electronics as the CEO

At the beginning of December, 2016 Cho Son Jin was appointed the CEO of LG Electronics. The company returned to the managerial structure assuming existence of one management official.

In addition to the CEO's post, 60-year-old Cho became the vice-chairman of the board of LG. He will be responsible for work of all divisions of LG, including Home Appliance & Air Solution, Mobile Communications, Home Entertainment and Vehicle Components and also will control over 120 production facilities worldwide.

Cho Son Chzhin's arrival to the management of LG became one of 58 appointments of the top managers announced in December, 2016 for the purpose of increase in flexibility of corporate culture and attraction to management of bigger number of young specialists. At the end of 2015 the company announced 38 changes in top management.

Under the leadership of Cho Son Chzhin who works in LG about 40 years the division on release of home appliances got high profit. In the third quarter 2016 it made 342.8 billion wons ($303.7 million), and revenue of business rose by 3% to 4.3 trillion wons ($3.8 billion). The company pays special attention to washers, vacuum cleaners and other electronics for the house against the background of long recession in telephone business.

At the end of 2015 LG refused the CEO's position, having passed to management of three equal heads among whom there was also Cho Son Jin. Thus, a year later the company returned to a position of the individual head.[1]
