2014-2016
Peggy Johnson successfully worked the top manager of Qualcomm within 24 years then - in 2014 - it passed into Microsoft by the invitation of the CEO of corporation Satya Nadella. She was engaged in business development on a post of the executive vice president and participated in a number of large deals and partner projects, including provided acquisition of LinkedIn for $26.2 billion. In 2016 Johnson also helped to set up the Microsoft venture fund also known as M12 directly to invest in startups, generally that work in the field of cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
2020: Appointment of Magic Leap as the CEO
At the beginning of July, 2020 it became known of Peggy Johnson appointment to a post of the CEO of Magic Leap. The former top manager of Microsoft and Qualcomm will officially head the developer of AR headsets in August.
Johnson joined a startup in hard times. Though the new headset of virtual reality Magic Leap caused a stir among audience, responses were not too warm, and sales did not meet expectations. Now Magic Leap tries to address corporate clients in attempt to save the company from bankruptcy. It is known that Magic Leap already dismissed a considerable part of personnel and actively looks for the investors capable to hold the company afloat despite the high competition.
In an interview Johnson explained that sees many opportunities for development and use of "space" Magic Leap technology which projects digital images to the real world. It even compared the potential of new technology to the first emergence of cellular communication and cloud computing. According to her, during a pandemic of opportunities becomes even more, people work far off and travel less. Besides, possible use of this technology includes professional training in the field of medicine and industrial automation.[1]
