2024: Detention in case of death of patient after gastric resection
On May 14, 2024, the Main Investigation Department of the RF IC in Moscow announced the detention of two doctors of the IQ Plastique plastic surgery clinic Timur Khaidarov. They are involved in a case that involves the death of a patient after gastric resection.
It is said that on February 16, 2024, a 36-year-old man was operated on in the named medical institution, who felt unwell the next day after discharge. The patient again went to the IQ Plastique clinic, where he underwent repeated surgery. However, the man's condition began to deteriorate again, in connection with which he was hospitalized in another hospital, where he fell into a coma and soon died. According to Shot and Mash, the deceased patient was businessman Pyotr Gavrilov, who underwent a gastric bypass procedure.
Investigators of the capital's Investigative Committee detained the 45-year-old head of the surgical department of IQ Plastique and the 28-year-old surgeon of this clinic. The necessary investigative actions are being carried out with them, and searches have been carried out at the place of residence of the defendants. The representative of IQ Plastique told the Telegram channel Shot that Ilya Elagin and Tamerlan Kadzaev became detainees.
A criminal case was initiated under paragraph "c" of Part 2 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - the provision of services that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life and health of consumers who caused death. As part of the investigation, the clinic seized media and documents recognized as material evidence. At the request of Roszdravnadzor, the City Arbitration Court Moscow suspended the activities of the IQ Plastique clinic for 90 days.
Work continues to establish the causes and conditions that led to the death of the patient after surgery at the plastic surgery clinic, the Main Investigation Department said in a statement.[1] |
