Education

In 2002, Sergey Kan graduated with honors from the Faculty of Medicine of the Kemerovo State Medical Academy, studied in clinical internship in therapy at the Department of Polyclinic Therapy and General Medical Practice, in full-time graduate school at the Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation of the Novokuznetsk State Institute for Advanced Medical Studies. In 2006, he defended his thesis "Features of permeability of the blood-brain barrier in critical conditions caused by severe traumatic brain injury.

Career

2016-2021

In 2016, Sergei Kahn was appointed Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of Kemerovo State Medical University (KemGMU). He combined teaching activities with medical practice - he was on duty as an anesthesiologist-resuscitator in medical organizations in Novokuznetsk.

Since 2021, Sergei Kan has worked as director of the Novokuznetsk Institute for Advanced Medical Studies, a branch of the federal state budgetary educational institution for additional professional education "Russian Medical Academy of Continuing Professional Education" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

2024: Appointment as Rector of Kemerovo State Medical University

At the end of January 2024, it was announced the appointment of Sergei Kan as the new rector of Kemerovo State Medical University (KemGMU). He replaced Tatyana Poponnikova, who headed the university since 2018.

The fact that Sergey Kan became the rector of KemGMU is reported on the website of the university. At the same time, the reasons for Poponnikova's resignation are not specified. According to data from the official website of the university, Tatyana Poponnikova is a professor at the Department of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Medical Genetics and Medical Rehabilitation.[1]
