2019: Appointment as the director of medical projects of Google
In the middle of October, 2019 Google employed the former employee of administration of Obama of Karen DeSalvo (Karen DeSalvo) as the executive director on medical projects. Before such position was not in the company.
It is already clear that Google and its parent company Alphabet invest considerable means in the health care industry, from researches of new drugs and devices before support of the scientific works using technologies of the company in the field of cloud computing.
At the end of 2108 Google employed David Feinberg who held a position of the CEO of Geisinger, for observation of the development strategy of the company in the health sector. And earlier in October, 2019 Alphabet invited the former commissioner of FDA doctor Robert Califf who, as well as DeSalvo, worked in Obama's administration, to become the new head of strategic development in Verily Life Sciences and Google Health.
De Salvo held a position of the national coordinator on information technologies in the field of health care from 2014 to 2016 and the Assistant Secretary of health care of the USA from 2014 to 2017. Within two and a half years she directed a series of successful projects in the field of health care, and since the end of 2017 taught at department of internal diseases and at department of the organization of health care of the University of Texas. In March, 2018 she was elected the president of Society of therapy of internal diseases. She also joined Leavitt Partners, consulting firm, as the senior consultant.
Reporting to Feinberg, DeSalvo will advise Google on the questions related to suppliers and health workers. Besides, DeSalvo will be included into the Verily advisory board, Alphabet subsidiary company which researches from natural-science to the sphere.[1]
