Biography

2023: Punishment - 16 years in prison for stealing $10 million from a company through fake accounts

On July 5, 2023, the US Department of Justice announced that former Amazon top manager Kayricka Wortham was sentenced to 16 years in federal prison for organizing a fraudulent scheme and stealing approximately $10 million from her employer.

According to the case file, from August 2020 to March 2022, Wortham, also known as Kairika Dupree and Kairika Young, worked as an operations manager at an Amazon warehouse in Smyrna, Georgia. In her post, she led other employees and had the authority to approve new suppliers. Taking advantage of his official position, Wortham organized a scheme involving non-existent suppliers and fictitious accounts. As a result, Amazon paid for goods and services worth $9.4 million, which were never provided.

During her criminal activities, Wortham conspired with Brittany Hudson, who owned Legend Express LLC and signed contracts with Amazon to deliver packages to customers. With fraudulently obtained funds, Wortham and Hudson purchased expensive real estate and luxury cars, including a house worth almost $1 million, a 2019 Lamborghini Urus, a 2021 Dodge Durango, a 2022 Tesla Model X, a 2018 Porsche Panamera and a Kawasaki ZX636 motorcycle.

According to the court decision, Kairika Wortham, in addition to serving a prison term, must pay an amount of $9 469,731,45 in favor of Amazon. In addition, more than $2.7 million of fraudulent income from several bank accounts, a house and cars purchased were confiscated from her. Brittany Hudson faces charges of conspiracy, wire fraud and money laundering. The verdict against this participant in the case will be passed later.[1]
