Ex-deputy head of the Research Institute of Precision Instruments sentenced to 3 years in prison for fraud in the purchase of space electronics

The case is related to the 2018 contract between the Research Institute of Precision Instruments, which is part of the Roscosmos holding Russian Space Systems, and the DaiTechnology company for the supply of components for electronic devices. The investigation found that the institute overpaid more than ₽200 million for parts, the real value of which was about ₽40 million.

The court also deprived Yegorov of the right to hold positions related to the performance of managerial functions in commercial organizations for a period of 2.5 years. A similar restriction for a period of 2 years and 6 months was imposed on Avdeev in terms of organizational, administrative and administrative functions.

The supply of components was carried out from the United States, bypassing the current sanctions, which led to delays in the execution of the contract. Despite the statements of entrepreneurs about the full fulfillment of contractual obligations, investigators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed a significant overestimation of the cost of the purchased equipment.

The court satisfied the civil claim of JSC NII TP for damages. Konstantin Egorov was taken into custody directly in the courtroom after the verdict was announced.

The verdict was passed under the articles "Fraud" and "Legalization of funds or other property acquired by a person as a result of a crime committed by him" of the Criminal Code of Russia.[1]
