2018: Death

On May 20, 2018 it became known of the death of the chairman of the board of directors and actual head of LG Group conglomerate Ku Bon Mu. Instead of it the management of corporation is temporarily assigned to the younger brother of the dead, the vice-president of corporation Ku Bon of Zhong.

The adopted son at Bon Mu will probably become the new head of LG. 40-year-old Ku Kwan-mo nomination was supported at a special session of Board of Directors which took place on May 17, 2018. The final decision should be made on June 29. Analysts consider that change of board will not have negative effects for  LG.

By May 21, 2018 Ku Kwan-mo owns 6% of stocks of LG and heads division of information displays in LG Electronics.

According to the news agency Yonhap, in 2017 Ku Bon Mu underwent several brain operations, and in May the 2018th it was hospitalized after deterioration in health. Then its condition was estimated as critical.

The former head within the last year after the undergone operation was treated in Hospital of Seoul National University (Seoul National University Hospital). The dead who was 73 years old had two daughters and the son Ku Kwan-mo mentioned above.

The family refused a magnificent funeral to please to desire of the dead, having specified that it will refuse to accept flowers and it is polite to show the door persons interested to express condolences.

Ku Bon Mu inherited the management of corporation which became known in many respects thanks to the consumer electronics released by LG Electronics in 1995 from the father Ku Zha Gyon.  Then was called LG differently — Lucky Goldstar. Under supervision of Ku Bon Mu LG Group increased sales five times and also got the companies which are engaged in electronics, chemical industry and telecommunications.^[1]
