Kovtun Marina Vasilievna - Governor of the Murmansk Region (elected for a term of April 13, 2012 until April 13, 2017).

Biography

Born March 10, 1962 in Murmansk, Russia.

Education

1980 - graduated from the Penza College of Soviet Trade named after the 50th anniversary of the Komsomol.

Graduate of the Higher Komsomol School under the Central Committee of the Komsomol.

2001 - graduated from the Northwest Academy of Public Service with a degree in State and Municipal Administration.

Career

Since 1986 - she began working in the Murmansk regional committee of the Komsomol, then headed the Kola district committee of the Komsomol.

1991 - became the head of the youth affairs department of the Kola district executive committee.

1992 - went to work in the State Tax Inspectorate in the Kola district, where she began to lead the tax sector of individuals and foreign persons.

1993 - began working in the Administration of the Murmansk region. She was a specialist in the Department of Social Protection of the Population, and then a specialist in the Department of Affairs.

1994-2005 - Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Administration of the Murmansk Region.

2005 - held the position of deputy head of the department of the Federal Agency for Tourism.

2006-2009 - headed the tourism development department of the Department of Economic Development of the Murmansk Region.

2009-2011 - Assistant, then Deputy General Director of OJSC Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company.

December 2011 - Elected deputy of the Murmansk Regional Duma of the fifth convocation in a single constituency according to the list of the United Russia party.

Elected First Deputy Chairman of the Murmansk Regional Duma. She headed the United Russia faction.

April 2012 - By decree of the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, she was appointed interim governor of the Murmansk region.

April 13, 2012 - approved as governor of the Murmansk region.

April 13, 2012 - inauguration took place.

In March 2019, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the early termination of the powers of Marina Kovtun as governor in connection with her statement.

Public work

August 9, 2012 - took part in a festive event dedicated to the Day of the Builder and awarded especially distinguished workers of the industry[1].

October 12, 2012 - took part in the solemn ceremony of laying a symbolic capsule at the construction site of a new residential building in Murmansk for servicemen of the 2nd Marine Detachment of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia[2].

November 10, 2012 - took part in the grand opening of the monument "Waiting"[3]."

February 18, 2013 - took part in the presentation of projects of residents of the Futurama IT Center, which is a branch of the Murmansk Regional Innovative Business Incubator[4].

March 18, 2013 - took part in a gala evening in honor of the Day of the submarine sailor, which was held in the polar garrison of submariners - Gadzhievo[5].

March 23, 2013 - took part in the opening ceremony of the 79th Holiday of the North and the 53rd Holiday of the North of students. The solemn ceremony was traditionally held in Murmansk Valley of Coziness[6].

Interesting facts

She became the third female head of the region in Russia.

In her speech after taking office, the governor stated that the inauguration of this post was the most important day in her life after the birth of children.

In an interview, she spoke about her family life:

«… We have no housekeepers or maids. I still manage to find time to cook food. I love it when at home it smells like home food, borscht. I really like to cook, I do it skillfully. All our friends know about this. Unfortunately, now it is not often possible to do this[7]

Determination considers a strong feature of its character.

"If I set myself some task, I perform it. If I am convinced of something, there are no obstacles for me. It seems to me that the greatest power is the power of persuasion. The hardest part is to control yourself. If you managed yourself, convinced yourself and set yourself up in a certain way, then convincing other people of your rightness is already easier[7]

Marina Kovtun is an avid fisherman.

She actively uses social networks, communicates with Twitter users. In 2012, she was one of the three most informative governors, according to a study by the National Monitoring Service.
