Gerard Lopez is the Luxembourg entrepreneur, the co-founder of investment funds Mangrove Capital Partners and Genii Capital Eric Lyuks (together with), the chairman of the board of directors of the Formulas 1 command Lotus F1.
Investment into Skype is considered one of the main achievements in Lopez's career. Mangrove was the first investor of the messenger, is later than the sold Microsoft for $3 billion.
In October, 2014 Lopez left[1], having focused on work in Genii Capital and Lotus F1 Team.
The investments connected with Russia
Under the leadership of Lopez Mangrove invested in Oktogo.ru, KupiVIP and Quintura. According to Lopez, "the East European entrepreneurs are much more active and more initiative Western European".
In October, 2014 the Kommersant newspaper reported that Mangrove Capital Partners froze investments to Russia, having explained it with a difficult geopolitical situation[2].
The Genii Capital fund is an investor of the Tatakoto company which is engaged in development of diagnostic medical solutions and headed by the founder of Yota Denis Sverdlov.
Education
Gerard Lopez graduated from the University of Miami with the bachelor's degree in the field of management of information systems and operational to management with specialization in mathematics and statistics. Speaks in the English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Luxembourg languages fluently.
