Education
In 1991 he graduated from the FSBVOU VPO "Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov."
In 1997 he defended his thesis on the topic: "Forensic characteristics of damage from a 7.62-mm Kalashnikov assault rifle with a silent firing device and US cartridges."
In 2007 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Expert characteristics of forensic ballistic studies of gunshot injuries caused by special-purpose weapons."
In 2009, he was awarded the academic title of assistant professor in the Department of Forensic Medicine. In 2019, he was awarded the academic title of professor in the specialty "Forensic Medicine." Under his leadership, 5 master's theses were defended.

1991-1994 - Head of the medical service of the submarine Twice Red Banner Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy.
1994-2010
1994-2010 - adjunct, teacher, head of the Department of Forensic Science (Medical and Forensic Research) and associate professor of the Department of Forensic Medicine "Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov." Reserve Medical Colonel. Awarded the title "Veteran of Hostilities." Doctor forensic expert of the highest qualification category.
2021: Appointment as Director of RCMS
On December 1, 2021, Igor Makarov took office as director of the Russian Center for Forensic Medical Examination (RTSME) of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. The relevant order was signed by the minister zdravookhraneniyamikhait Murashko. According to the document, Makarov will head the RCSME for five years.
Prior to this appointment, Makarov served as acting RTSME after the previous director of the center, Andrei Kovalev, quit due to violations of labor discipline.
On December 1, 2021, Mikhail Murashko visited the RCME, introduced a new director and checked the equipment of the structural divisions of the center, the press service of the Ministry of Health said. The Minister called for accelerating the introduction of high-tech research methods into forensic practice.[1]
