Dmitry Markelov was born in Khanty-Mansiysk.
Education
He graduated from the Omsk State Medical Academy (now - OmGMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia). Here, from 2002 to 2004, he studied at the Department of Oncology in clinical residency, from 2004 to 2007 - in full-time graduate school.
Career
2002
In 2002, he joined the Clinical Oncological Dispensary.
2017-2019
Since 2017 - Head of the Surgical Department No. 1 of the Oncology Dispensary. He was trained as part of the presidential program for the training of management personnel.
In January 2019, he headed the Clinical Oncological Dispensary.
2024: Appointment as Minister of Health of the Omsk Region
In early July 2024, Dmitry Markelov was appointed the new Minister of Health of the Omsk Region. The governor of the region Vitaly Khocenko wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

Previously, Dmitry Markelov served as chief physician at the Omsk Oncology Center. He was also a deputy of the Omsk City Council, but on July 5, 2024 he resigned of his own free will.
In mid-June 2024, it became known that Artem Narkevich, who headed the Ministry of Health of the Omsk Region since the fall of 2023, was leaving his post due to his transfer to a new position. The specialist was appointed director of the Department of Medical Education and Personnel Policy in Healthcare of the Ministry of Health of Russia. Narkevich replaced Lyudmila Letnikova, who headed the department since October 2021.
As part of the Omsk medical team, Dmitry Markelov repeatedly traveled to the zone of a special military operation, participated in the provision of medical assistance to participants in the North Military District and local residents.[1]
