Biography
Karim Massimov managed the People's Savings Bank of Kazakhstan (Halyk Bank) and Turanbank (BTA Bank).
In 2007, Karim Massimov was appointed Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
In 2012, he was transferred to the post of head of the presidential administration.
Since April 2014, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has again appointed Massimov to the post of prime minister.
On September 8, 2016, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree on the dismissal of Prime Minister Karim Massimov. The corresponding decree is published on the website of the President of Kazakhstan.
K. Massimov was appointed Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic and the Government.
"To appoint Massimov Karim Kazhimkanovich as chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, dismissing the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the decree said.
Massimov was temporarily replaced by Bakytzhan Sagintayev, the first deputy prime minister of the republic.
After the riots began in Kazakhstan in January 2022, Massimov was removed from the post of head of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan and later detained on suspicion of treason.
