Biography

1992-2002: Work in Thomson Asia

2002-2005: President of Thomson KeyMro America

From 2002 to 2005 Yves Metr held a post of the CEO and the president of Thomson KeyMro America company.

2005-2008: Vice president of Orange France Telecom

During the period from February, 2005 to November of the 2008th Yves Metr was in Orange France Telecom on a position of the vice president for devices.

2008-2013: The senior vice president for mobile multimedia products and devices in Orange

From November, 2008 to October of the 2013th Yves Metr worked as the senior vice president for mobile multimedia products and devices of century Orange. The company calls Metr the person thanks to whom in To Europe appeared Android-smartphones. Besides, he has an experience in development of home appliances, services and development of B2B technologies.

2019: Appointment of HTC as the CEO

On September 17, 2019 Yves Maitre was appointed the new CEO of HTC instead of Cher Wang who headed the company since 2015.

As reported in the press release devoted to change of the head, HTC under the leadership of the Master will continue to be focused on technologies of virtual (VR) and expanded reality (XR) and also on artificial intelligence and a solutions 5G.

Cher Vang will continue work as the chairman of the board of directors of HTC, having focused on technology transition of the company to VR projects.

Before becoming the CEO of HTC, Yves Metr worked in telecommunication holding Orange at a position of the executive vice president for partnership and the consumer equipment.

2020: Leaving from a position of the CEO of HTC

At the beginning of September, 2020 it became known of Yves Metr's leaving from a position of the CEO of HTC. The Taiwan smartphone manufacturer and VR devices he headed less than a year.

The reasons of resignation of the Master are not concretized. In the message of HTC it is specified that he left the company for "the personal reasons", and it was heavy to it to combine work with family. Because of restrictions in the international air traffic the Master had to spend several months far from the relatives who are in Europe. HTC with regret recognized that business trips and other trips were seriously limited after the outbreak of a coronavirus of new type that led to significant changes in a way of life of people and business of corporations.

The Board of Directors of HTC approved Yves Metr's leaving and wished it success in future undertakings. New work location already of the ex-CEO of HTC by September 4, 2020 is not called.

HTC replaced the CEO after long losses

After leaving of the Master the company was headed by the chairman of her Board of Directors Cher Vang who will combine two positions. HTC is not going to look for other CEO.

HTC laid great hopes on Yves Metr, however he did not manage to bring the company to profit. In the second quarter 2020 HTC won the tenth contract a quarter loss (about $62 million), and according to the results of the first half of the year monetary losses were measured by $119 million. At the same time at the producer also sales fall: so, in April-June, 2020 they failed more than half in comparison with a similar interval of time in the 2019th. Bad financial performance forces the companies to update the management and to reduce the staff.

According to experts, efforts of the Taiwan vendor on expansion of business in the field of technologies of virtual reality still did not bring notable results, and VR headsets occupy only an insignificant part in revenue of HTC.[2]
