Biography
2016-2020
In 2016, there was the first beauty contest with which Andrea Mesa began her victorious procession. Then the girl represented her state at the national qualifying round for the Miss World contest.
Having won the crown, she went to the Miss World 2017 contest, where she became the first vice miss, taking second place.
In 2020, she won the Mexicana Universal Chihuahu competition.
2021: Miss Universe 2021 Contest Victory
26-year-old Mexican Andrea Mesa won the Miss Universe 2021 contest, which was held May 16 in Florida (USA).
According to the event's website, Andrea Mesa is a software developer by education, and she is "proud that she received a diploma in a specialty dominated by men." She is also a certified makeup artist and model, a member of an international charitable association that raises funds for oppressed residents of India, Indonesia and China.
In addition, Mesa is known for her struggle for women's rights and gender equality. She also abandoned meat and animal products and became a vegan.
This is the third time that a Mexican woman is awarded this title. Past times were in 1991 and in 2010.
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez congratulated Mesa on his victory:

The second place in the competition was taken by a participant from Brazil, Julia Gama, the third - Yanik Maseta from Peru. Representative of Russia Alina Sanko did not qualify for the semifinals of the competition.
Each of the girls made a speech on the proposed topic. Mesa spoke about beauty standards and their change over time, winning the favor of the jury.[1]
