Position assignment of the deputy chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation

On October 5, 2020 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation announced Mikhail Alekseev's appointment the vice chairman of the board. At this position the former head of Unicredit bank will supervise department of cash circulation and activity of the Consolidation "Rosinkas". Besides, Alekseev is going to be appointed the chairman of the board of directors of Management company of Fund of consolidation of the banking sector (UK FKBS).

By October 5, 2020 the department of cash circulation and Rosinkas supervises the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank Olga Skorobogatova. Since October 12, 2020 will turn development of the RegTech and SupTech directions into its maintaining (regulatory and supervising technologies in the financial sector) and also activity of Central Bank operations department.

The former head of Unicredit bank Mikhail Alekseev became the deputy chairman of the Central Bank

After nearly three decades spent in commercial banking business I am glad to return on service again and to join a command of the Central bank. I will apply all the knowledge, skills and abilities to justify the high trust which is put in me — Alekseev noted, commenting on the appointment which will become effective on October 12, 2020.

Unicredit did not disclose information on departure of the head of bank. The Central Bank also did not specify when Alekseev leaves the position held by it in Unicredit.

The Bank of Russia directly did not comment on the Alekseev's appointment to the directions, different in the specifics.

Mikhail Yuryevich has extensive experience of successful work in banking business and in public service — words of the head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina are cited in the message.

According to her, Alekseev on a new position in FKBS will be engaged in quality improvement of management of banks and also "activation of their pre-sale preparation" under control of the Central Bank, Nabyullina reported.

The supervisory board of Unicredit will gather on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 to make the decision on the successor, the representative of credit institution told RBC.^[1]
