2025: Murder in the UAE
On November 7, 2025, it became known that the Russian crypto trader Roman Novak and his wife Anna were killed in the UAE. On this fact, Russian investigators in St. Petersburg opened a criminal case.
According to the resource "Лента.ру," referring to the information received by the Investigative Committee of Russia, the Novaki spouses disappeared in early October 2025. According to investigators, the couple was supposed to meet with investors in the city of Hatta in the emirate of Dubai. The personal driver brought them to the lake parking lot, where the young people moved to another car and drove away. After that, the connection with them disappeared.
Telegram channel Baza clarifies that the last time the signals from Novakov's cell phones were recorded in Cape Town (South Africa) on October 4, 2025. After that, they did not get in touch with relatives and friends, did not answer calls and messages. The family sounded the alarm, and during the investigation that began, it was found that the couple was kidnapped by extortionists who demanded a large ransom. It was not possible to find the necessary amount, and the criminals dealt with the young people.
According to reports, citizens were involved in the abduction and murder: Russia they were detained and will be extradited St. Petersburg for further investigation. The case was initiated under Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - murder. The couple are survived by two children who were taken to Russia Anna's father.
As noted, Novak introduced himself as a member of the Telegram board of directors. He himself called himself a friend of Pavel Durov, the creator of this messenger, as well as the "deputy" vice president of Telegram Ilya Perekopsky. Baza also reports that Novak has repeatedly come to the attention of law enforcement agencies. He, in particular, was accused of embezzling $500 million collected from investors from different countries, allegedly for business development.[1]
